| Project Type: Database Publishing Client: Disney Interactive Project Description: Create a database export system from FileMaker Pro that will preserve the text formatting (bold, italic, underline…) contained in a 100+ page functional specification document for importation into Microsoft Word. Background: Disney Interactive has an international production department that takes existing USA distributed CD-ROM products and localizes those items for international distribution. The functional specification documents for certain Disney Interactive projects were generated by a database system. The international department needed these documents to formatted for Microsoft Word to take advantage of Word's localized foreign language versions. Project Goals: Take the existing 100+ page database generated functional specification report and convert the document into a Microsoft Word document and preserve the extensive formatting of headers, sections and subsections. TooBaRoo Solution: TooBaRoo created a database that combined the existing data with extensive HTML tagged calculations to produce a formatted HTML document. This 100+ page HTML report was imported into Microsoft Word. Word accepts HTML formatted text and converts the content to the corresponding Word format. This allowed the separate international division to edit the document in a more localized version of Word. |
