| Project Type: Database Publishing Client: Los Angeles Times Suburban Newspapers (Pasadena Weekly) Project Description: Database Publishing system used to export weekly movie & event listing sections formatted with Quark Tags. Background: The Pasadena Weekly is a Los Angeles Times Suburban Newspaper. They publish weekly listings for movies, theaters and events within their distribution area. From week to week the listings have lots of repetition involving the same theaters, movies, times and other event descriptions. The week's listings were being edited in Quark on a weekly basis and the publisher sought to streamline the repetitive process by using database publishing. Project Goals: (1) Create a database publishing system that reduces the redundancy and increases the accuracy of data entry (2) Apply Quark tags to the formatted data to allow automatic flowing of Quark formatted text into the publication from the database system that organizes the theater locations, movie reviews, events and movies screens and showing times. TooBaRoo Solution: Using FileMaker Pro, TooBaRoo created a shared multi-user integrated database solution to accomplish the project goals. |
