Boehringer-Ingelheim | Kiosk | Digital Product Catalog & Marketing Resource

Project Type: Kiosk

Client: Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica

Project Description: Touch screen convention kiosk containing a searchable archive of product information sheets, a quiz involving animal heath questions, and searchable related marketing materials.

Background: Boehringer-Ingelheim is a German based conglomerate with diverse business interests. Boehringer operates an Animal Health & Pharmaceutical Division located in the Midwestern United States called Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica. This division manufactures and/or sells hundreds of pharmaceutical products for bovine, swine, equine and small companion animals. They market the various products at trade shows and conventions targeted to specific animal interest groups. In addition, the attendees at these particular shows may range from veterinary doctors to small farmers. Boehringer's marketing team sought to create a convention kiosk that would help market the numerous products to its divergent customer base.

Project Goals: (1) Create a multimedia kiosk that's visible content focus can change depending upon the conventions subject matter focus, (2) create a kiosk that will contain an animal health quiz to generate interest in the booth; (3) capture contestant contact information through a touch screen. (No keyboard was used with the kiosk); (4) allow for quick searching and review of product information; (5) Search for products by species, disease name, product type, or keyword search.

TooBaRoo's Solution: TooBaRoo created a Kiosk that had easy to use administrative controls. The Kiosk's presented content was variable. For example, the marketing team attending an equine show could set preferences to activate only equine products and equine quiz questions. The user interface and searchable content presented would seamlessly exclude the species areas not relevant for the current trade show. This allowed for one piece of software to be developed that could be deployed for multiple subject matter areas. To speed searching functions TooBaRoo created a relational database system that allowed for instant record retrieval and display through the use of relationships and related records, instead of performing traditional record queries. Last, the kiosk contained dynamically generated five question quiz's that would announce winners and capture the entrants contact information.
